Fortescue Acquisition Propels Nabrawind’s Innovative Wind Technology to Global Scale

The deal provides Nabrawind with the financial backing and execution pipeline necessary to bring its very tall wind towers to global markets, accelerating Fortescue’s “Real Zero” transition.

Nabrawind Technologies has been fully acquired by Fortescue, the global metal mining company headquartered in Australia. This operation consolidates a collaboration initiated in 2023, strengthening the Spanish company’s role within Fortescue’s global effort to accelerate industrial decarbonization and build the lowest-cost 24/7 energy system.

The integration leverages Nabrawind’s innovative self-erecting tower design (Nabralift), essential for installing turbines at greater heights and achieving crucial efficiency gains for Fortescue’s large-scale wind projects.

Driving Nabrawind to the Next Stage

Fortescue is the ideal partner to assist Nabrawind in advancing to the next stage, providing the financial resources, execution discipline, and its own project pipeline to bring Nabrawind’s towers to a global scale with quality and profitability.

The acquisition places Nabrawind within Fortescue’s extensive network of global partners to accelerate the deployment of green energy solutions worldwide.

Recognition and Dedication

Nabrawind expresses its deepest gratitude to the partners who paved the way for this milestone. This includes former shareholders like Barinaga y Alberdi S.A., Sodena S.L., Basarro 2005 S.L, Evoluwind, and InnoEnergy, as well as NVS partners, Comansa and Tetrace. Special thanks are also extended to ARPA Abogados Consultores (for support on the purchase agreement) and Bantec Group (for securing the public financing that enabled the company’s growth).

This milestone coincides with Nabrawind’s 10th year anniversary since its founding, underscoring its evolution into a key global player in the energy transition.

Eneko Sanz, CEO of Nabrawind, stated: “This integration allows the company to project its technology to an unmatched global scale, accelerating the transition to cleaner energy under the umbrella of a world leader.”

As stated by Iñaki Larraya, Director of Sodena: “Sodena views this transaction as an example of the growth and value creation of an innovative Navarrese company in a sector that is strategic for Navarre. Nabrawind has successfully carved out a niche for itself in a highly competitive international market, one subject to geopolitical uncertainties. Nabrawind has a strong professional team that, led by CEO Eneko Sanz, has designed and implemented technological solutions visible in wind farms from Africa to Australia, ultimately leading Fortescue to decide to incorporate it into its business group. Trajectories such as this reinforce our conviction in supporting business projects born in Navarre with the ambition to lead globally. I must also acknowledge those who, alongside Sodena, provided the financial support that made this project a reality: Evoluwind, Barinaga y Alberdi S.A., InnoEnergy, and Basarro S.L. 2005, to whom I can only offer words of gratitude.”
