Competitive Foundation

Nabrabase is a cost competitive alternative in complex soil wind farms.

Nabrabase is an elevated wind tower foundation consisting of a tripod installed under the tubular tower, resulting in a hybrid support structure. The metallic transition is manufactured in several elements that are transported separately and assembled on-site using preloaded tension connections.

The Nabrabase elevated foundation portfolio offers several configurations. In all cases, foundation dimensions and costs are significantly lower than those of standard tubular towers, as the large distance between the tripod columns reduces the loads transferred to the ground. Additionally, the tripod primarily transmits vertical forces, unlike standard towers, which transmit bending moments, complicating the design of the footings.

Pile Foundation
Suitable for sites where soft rock is available no deeper than 10m. It consists of three independent concrete piles of around 1.5m in diameter and a length in the range of 20-30m.
Anchor Rock Foundation
The best solution for sites where hard rock is available no deeper than 3m. This foundation consists of three independent concrete footings, each 3-4m in diameter and around 2m high, connected to the rock through post-tensioned rock anchors grouted in pre-drilled holes.
Gravitational Foundation

For sites where rock is not available close to the surface (deeper than 10m), it consists of three independent small footings manufactured according to the standard process of conventional wind turbine foundations.

Multi-pile Foundations

The best solution for sites with very poor bearing capacity, formed by three independent footings supported by several piles of a reduced diameter.

Soil Characteristics and Concrete Availability

The characteristics of the soil or even the availability of concrete in some locations can pose a challenge for the development of wind farms, but Nabrabase overcomes these difficulties

Best Foundation Cost

Huge concrete/steel saving. Concrete requirements for the foundation are reduced by 80%. Simple anchor cages

Fast Process & Simple logistic

The foundation execution is reduced to one week. Minimum volume of concrete

Eco-friendly Solution

Foundation CO2 emissions are reduced by 40 %.

From 2018 to present

Nabrabase / Nabralift
projects master plan

After the installation of the initial 160 m tall prototype in Navarra, Spain, in 2018, the first commercial turbines have been successfully deployed in Morocco (144 m, 2022) and France (102 m, 2023). Plans are currently underway for projects surpassing 190 m in height, scheduled for the years 2024 and 2025 in Australia, Namibia and China.
